Natural fish oil appears to work better than top cholesterol-reducing drug
Natural fish oil appears to work better than top cholesterol-reducing drug, according to a study announced at the European Society of Cardiology in Munich, and publish by the medical journal “The Lancet” by a group of Italian researchers.
| In two parallel studies nearly 3,500 patients with chronic heart failure were given omega-3 pill while nearly 2,300 patients were given rosuvastatin, the popular cholesterol lowering drug Crestor.
Results show that the naturally occurring omega-3 group had few instances of death or hospitalization than those taking Crestor.

As quoted by MSBC, Dr. Jose Gonzalez Juanatey “With few effective options for heart failure patients, the findings could give patients a potential new treatment and could change the dietary recommendations for them.”
Many popular medications bring with them the potential for side effects, in the case of Crestor, Renal (Kidney) impairment, muscle pain, weakness, drug interactions, liver enzyme abnormalities to list a few. Omega-3 supplements taken in the proper doses are far less likely to cause even minor side effects, after all this is a naturally occurring oil found in fish, flax seeds, walnuts and soybeans.
Considered an essential fatty acid necessary for a healthy body Omega-3 also provides an essential function in brain health, growth and development. “Essential” however, the human body can’t manufacture, so if you’re not getting the recommended dosage on a regular basis (most people don’t) you’re shorting your body this critical fatty acid.
