Oranges and Orange Peel:
Antioxidant Drinks, Juices and Nutritional Superfood Benefits

Oranges and orange peels are indeed one of nature’s superfoods. As juice or concentrated, oranges are great for antioxidant drinks or healthy breakfast drinks. Oranges are of course one of the best sources for Vitamin C, along with many other citrus fruits. Besides having vitamins, natural sugars, and dietary fiber, oranges and juices are an immune system booster. Vitamin C is one of the safest nutrients whether in natural state or in food supplements.

Current research into orange peel and pulp use in animal feeds, particularly with sheep, are indicating that properties and compounds in the peel are effective at preventing/combating E. coli, salmonella and pathogenic bacteria. This may well indicated that orange peel can be an effective anti-emetic, or bacterial fighting superfood.

General Health Benefits:

Besides the nutritional benefits of the fruit, high levels of Vitamin C, and other superfood nutrients, oranges and derived compounds are used in treatments, and to reduce the risk of a variety of diseases and deficiencies. A few of the medical problems that benefit from oranges, orange peel and nutrients of the fruit include general immune system health and protection, osteoporosis in women, cardiovascular diseases, eye diseases, prenatal health problems, help to control blood sugars and also to even reduce skin wrinkling.

Additionally, oranges are also a great source of antioxidants necessary in proper cell health; try as a juice or as healthy mixed fruit antioxidant drinks.

Diabetes:

Oranges, containing dietary fiber, natural sugars and vitamins are an ideal snack, even for most diabetics; even the American Diabetic Association recommends adding the raw fruit as an important source of nutrients. Its natural sugars are also easier to process than highly processed complex sugars. Additionally, the recommendation for fruit servings are nine per day, higher than some other recommended daily amounts.

The daily need for Vitamin C, antioxidant properties, dietary fibers and other nutrients provided by oranges and orange peel are significant. As a tasty snack or in as a food supplement, or as part of a health drink, the value of the superfoods, oranges, is important to overall immune system health.

And as every grandmother knows, drink your orange juice when you have a cold!

Kylea offers several products that are rich nutritional supplement of Vitamin C.

I’m personally not a huge fan of orange juice, especially most of the commercial garbage you find at the supermarket. Why? They are absolutely chock-full of sugar and you never know the quality of soil the orange tree was home too. The best thing is to buy them organic or eat them from a locally grown farm if your climate is suitable for local citrus produce. I would also recommend eating oranges in moderation so you don’t get too much sugar. Also, if you have any indigestion issues, citrus can make it worse so have your HCL checked.
